Premier Doug Ford In Lindsay For Announcement By FLATO Developments

KAWARTHA LAKES-Premier Doug Ford was at Fleming College in Lindsay today for an announcement by a private company.

FLATO Developments announced it was donating $1.2 million to the college for scholarships and equipment upgrades. They previously made a large donation to the Academy Theatre now called FLATO Academy Theatre and Ross Memorial Hospital.

The company has two housing developments in the planning stages in the City of Kawartha Lakes, one in Cameron and one in Lindsay.

FLATO has received Minister’s Zoning Orders from the province over the years. A Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO) is meant for situations of extraordinary urgency. It overrides local planning authority to approve a development without public input or any chance of appeal.

In November they received a conditional MZO for the development in Lindsay.

The Premier did not take questions from the media.

MPP Laurie Scott, Mayor Andy Letham and Curve Lake First Nations Chief Emily Whetung were in attendance.
