PETERBOROUGH-Two people are facing numerous charges after officers seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, drugs and cash.
The Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid the charges in relation to a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation.
Police say on April 7, 2022, a CDSA search warrant was executed at a residence in the City of Peterborough with the assistance of the Peterborough Police Service Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Officers say they seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, fentanyl, crack cocaine, hydromorphone, scales, cell phones and Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, two people have been arrested and charged.
Mahendra Mangrue (age 18) of Scarborough, has been charged with:
• Possession property obtained by crime-over $5,000
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Fail to comply with sentence
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid
• Breach of firearms regulation-store firearm or restricted weapon
• Carrying concealed weapon
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Probation Order-two counts
• Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Possession of a firearm knowing serial number was tampered with
The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later today.
Crystal Fitzgerald (age 39) of Peterborough, has been charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, on May 10, 2022.
