Peterborough County Paramedics Stop Erratic Driver On Highway 7

KAWARTHA LAKES-Peterborough County Paramedics stopped an erratice driver on Highway 7 after becoming concerned for their wellbeing.

Peterborough County Detachment OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 7 at approximately 6:15pm on March 31, 2022. Police say paramedics reported that they observed a vehicle driving erratically and were concerned that the driver was in need of medical assistance. Paramedics were able to stop the vehicle and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol according to police.

Officers attended and placed the driver under arrest.

56-year-old Stephen Barrett of Peterborough, Ontario was charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 3, 2022.
