Snow, Ice Pellets And Freezing Rain Possible As Special Weather Statement Issued For Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKEA Special Weather Statment has been issued for our area by Environment Canada.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes
  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Snow, ice pellets and freezing rain with some ice accretion possible Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. Officials say untreated surfaces such as roads, parking lots and walkways may become slippery.

A mix of snow and ice pellets is expected to move into the area Wednesday afternoon and persist into Wednesday night. Freezing rain is also possible before the precipitation changes over to rain overnight or early Thursday morning. Snow and ice pellets amounts of up to 5 cm is possible. At this time, there remains considerable uncertainty regarding the extent of freezing rain.
