PETERBOROUGH-Members of the Peterborough County/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit of the OPP, in partnership with the Peterborough Police Service, have laid charges in relation to a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation.
On March 11, 2022, five CDSA search warrants were executed at residences in Peterborough County and Durham Region with the assistance of the Durham Regional Police Service.
Officers seized a loaded handgun and a large quantity of fentanyl and cocaine. As a result of the investigation, three people have been arrested and charged.
Robert Davis(age 30) of Pickering, has been charged with:
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-over $5,000
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Fail to comply with Probation Order
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid
Mark Stephens(age 24) of Oshawa, has been charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5,000
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, on April 19, 2022.
Francis Laffier (age 24) of Pickering, has been charged with:
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Unauthorized possession of weapon
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid
• Possession of firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition Order
The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later today.
