Lindsay Male Charged, Another Suspect At Large After Brazen Midday Shooting In Residential Area

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police have arrested a suspect and are seeking a second in relation to the shooting incident which occurred on Peel Street in Lindsay earlier today. 

Police say a 29-year-old Lindsay male has been taken into custody, charged with attempted murder, firearm – use while committing offence, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm and possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm. No name was released.

The accused has been held for a bail hearing; he will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 12, 2022. 

Police Chief Mark Mitchell tweeted “Thank you to all #KLPS Members involved in the initial response and following investigation. Very brazen incident, but we will be diligently pursuing everyone involved!”

Police responded to the area of Peel and Albert Streets after reports of multiple gunshots. Schools in the area were placed on hold and secure.

Officers later located a gunshot victim who was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

This investigation is ongoing, police are asking anyone who has information to contact them or if you wish to provide your information anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit online at khcrimestoppers.com. Anyone who lives in the area of Peel Street and Albert Street North, and has video surveillance footage between 11:00am and 11:30am, on Friday March 11 and can assist is asked to call police at 705-324-5252.
