Charges Laid After Woman And Young Child Allegedly Kidnapped At Knifepoint In Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Monday morning.

At approximately 6:30am on February 21, 2022, officers received a 9-1-1 call to a residence in Peterborough about domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers say they learned that the accused had woken the victim up and threatened her with a knife before forcing her and a young child into a vehicle and leaving the area before returning to the residence.  Once back at the residence, the suspect allegedly fled.

Officers located him a short distance away and took him into custody.  No one was injured in the incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Kidnapping
  • Assault with a Weapon – Spousal
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, February 22, 2022.
