Peterborough Woman’s New Business Venture Providing “Pillars Of Light” To Those In Need Around The World

KAWARTHA LAKES-At the height of the pandemic when some people were “feeling the pain of isolation and the darkness of fear”, friends Shannon Fisher and Janey Snelgrove were looking for a way to make a significant impact.

We wanted to bring more love and light to the world, as we could see the impact that the pandemic was having on everyone. With mental health issues on the rise, we wanted to give people hope and an opportunity to be a part of something brighter once again.” Shannon Fisher, a Peterborough resident, told Kawartha 411 News. Her partner Janey Snelgrove lives in Barrie.

Both had been entrepreneurs before and this time around Fisher says the pair knew they couldn’t solve all problems but they could start to make a difference by sharing more love and light around the world, one candle at a time.

“We wanted to create a company that was rooted in purpose and people; a company that offered genuine solutions to people in need,” Fisher says.

“Pillars of Light” combines both their wish to literally bring light to the world and to help those less fortunate.

After exploring ways to accomplish their mission the entrepreneurs came across a company called the GivePower Foundation. According to Samaritans Purse, every 90 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease. Through their partnership with GivePower every “Pillars of Light” candle sold provides five years of clean drinking water to someone in need around the world. To date, they have impacted 167 lives in their first 2 months of being open.

“That’s 167 people getting access to clean drinking water every day for the next 5 years!!!!” exclaims Fisher. “Starting a new company in the pandemic sounds crazy but we thought if we could remind people of the good in the world we would give it a shot. It seemed like such a worthwhile cause we felt tied and pulled into it, it’s positive.”

The candles are 100% Eco-Friendly Soy Wax Candles rooted in Essential Oils and Canadian Made in Montreal. They come in two scents. One is called Love and it is a black 100% soy wax with sandalwood, vanilla and jasmine. The other scent is Light and it’s white soy wax in a peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus scent. One is imagined as a day burn and the other a night burn. The vessels are all ceramic marble and each is unique, no two are alike.

“We wanted to create a luxury product, something simple, yet sophisticated that would act as a reminder of the power of light.”

Their commitment is to serving over 1 Million People.

“Imagine the impact this could bring to the world.” Fisher says.
