Charges Laid After Fiery Crash On Highway 7 In Emily Township

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP has charged a driver after a two-vehicle collision, where one of the vehicles caught fire.

Shortly after 7:30 pm on February 4, 2022, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, Fire and EMS attended a two vehicle collision on Highway 7, in Emily Township. One of the vehicles at scene was fully engulfed in flames and extinguished by the Fire Department. No one was seriously injured in the collision.

Jason Hughes, 39 years-of-age, of Lindsay has been charged with; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of (80 plus) and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 17, 2022.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
