Charges Laid After Serious Assault In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a report of a Break and Enter where the victim had returned home and found the accused, a family member, in the residence on December 16th.  The accused was on conditions from an incident in November to not attend the residence or have communication with the victim according to police.  The accused allegedly choked the victim to the point of nearly going unconscious, struck the victim in the face and then broke the victim’s cell phone when they attempted to call 9-1-1 a second time.  Police arrived and located the accused a short distance away and the accused was arrested and charged with Breach Undertaking; Break and Enter; Assault and Mischief Under $5000.  The accused was released with a court date.

On December 18, 202, Kawartha Lakes Police Service were contacted by the victim reporting that the accused returned to their residence on the night of December 16, 2021 and the accused entered the victim’s residence.  Police say the victim was sleeping and woke up to the accused demanding the victim have the charges dropped and when they refused the accused choked the victim until they were unconscious.  The following day the victim attended the hospital and was determined to have multiple fractures to the face.

The accused was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm; Attempt to Obstruct Justice; Break and Enter and two counts of Breach Undertaking. No names have been released.
