COVID-19 Outbreak Declared At St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR)District Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School in Lindsay on Dec. 15.

Currently, there are two COVID-19 cases connected to the outbreak according to the health unit. 

 “Provincial guidance requires a school outbreak be declared when two or more linked confirmed cases occur within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.” stated Bill Eekhoff, Communications HKPR. 

 Eekhoff says all high-risk contacts associated with the cases at St. Dominic have been contacted and provided guidance on next steps (including isolating and testing).

Health Unit staff continue to work with the school board and school staff to work through this situation. Families can also contact the Health Unit’s School Health Team at 1-866-888-4577, ext. 1508, if they have any additional questions or concerns. 

The province is reporting 2.421 new cases of COVID today with 1,530 in the fully vaccinated, 686 in the unvaccinated, 72 partially vaccinated and 133 status unknown.
