KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit is putting a pause on offering sexual health clinics in the region due to its COVID-19 response.
Officials say the move is so that nurses and other staff can be redeployed to pandemic response. The decision comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the region according to the health unit.
Sexual Health Nurses with the Health Unit can help make informed choices that are right for each individual. Sexual Health Nurses provide:
- Sexual Health Clinics in your area
- Free STI testing and treatment
- Free condoms and low-cost birth control
- Free pregnancy testing and much more
Clients who had an appointment booked this month at a sexual health clinic in Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes are being contacted directly to make alternate arrangements.
The Health Unit encourages anyone with concerns relating to their sexual health to contact their primary care provider or attend a walk-in clinic.
