Teen Charged With Criminal Harassment After Incident At Ontario Speed Skating Oval

PETERBOROUGH-An investigation led by the Peterborough County OPP has resulted in a suspect being arrested and charged with criminal harassment.

Police say on October 13, 2021 at approximately 12:00pm, officers attended the Ontario Speed Skating Oval located a 3358 Lakefield Road in response to a suspicious person complaint. The complainant reported that they were followed by a male while they were walking their dog on the trail system that runs through the property. A description of the male was provided to officers and a suspect was identified. The alleged suspect was located and arrested on October 14, 2021.

18-year-ol Austin DEMAEYER of Selwyn Township, Ontario was charged with:

• Criminal Harassment-beset and watch complainant

• Fail to comply with sentence

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 22, 2021.

Police are asking anyone who has seen similar suspicious activity, or who has information regarding this occurrence, to contact the Peterborough County OPP at 705-742-0401, 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and you will remain anonymous. Being anonymous, you will not testify in court and your information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.00
