KAWARTHA LAKES-Durham Regional Police are looking for the occupants of a pickup truck after a serious collision in Uxbridge.
Police say on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at approximately 9:13 p.m., members from North Division were called to the intersection of Lake Ridge Road and Goodwood Road in Uxbridge for a serious motor-vehicle collision involving four vehicles.
A white Ford F150 pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Goodwood Road at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a white Ford Escape, forcing the Escape into the intersection where it collided with two additional vehicles according to police. Police say the white Ford F150 left the roadway following the collision where it burst into flames. The occupants of the Ford F150 were able to exit the vehicle; however police say they fled the scene on foot before police arrived.
The investigation has revealed that the white Ford F150 was reported as stolen from Lindsay earlier in the day. This is currently under investigation.
A female has been located and charged. After the collision, the driver of the pickup truck fled the area and allegedly broke into a residence that was under construction according to police. Officers were able to locate her in Uxbridge and place her under arrest yesterday.
Jennifer HALLETT, age 42 of Wagg Road in Uxbridge, has been charged with: B>Fail to Remain x2; Failure to Stop After Accident � Bodily Harm; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm x4; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; Theft of a Motor Vehicle; Mischief under $5,000; Break and Enter; Transportation Fraud; Fail to Comply with undertaking x3; Fail to Comply with Probation Order. She was held for a bail hearing.
Occupant #2 is still outstanding: male, white, approximately 25 to 30 years of age, with blonde hair partially shaved on the sides and a medium build. The couple had a medium-sized dog with them, possibly a golden retriever.
In total, six people involved in the collision were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Four adults and a 14-year-old were taken to a local hospital, while a 2-year-old was transported to a Toronto-area hospital.
Members of the DRPS-Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the intersection was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
