KAWARTHA LAKES-A traffic complaint pertaining to a potentially impaired driver received by Kawartha Lakes OPP resulted in the arrest of a local resident for Criminal Code related offences.
On June 11, 2021 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP located and stopped the alleged vehicle related to the complaint and the ensuing investigation led them to determine that the driver had allegedly been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Howard Newhook, 65 years of age, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded for seven days as part of the offence. The accused party is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 8, 2021.
