Drug Charge Laid After Call About Suspicious Vehicle

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes OPPĀ responded to a call pertaining to a suspicious vehicle that resulted in the arrest of an impaired driver.

On June 2, 2021 police received a call from a homeowner who was concerned about a suspicious vehicle in their driveway. The officer attended the area of Burke Road and located the alleged vehicle.

The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of Brian O’Donoghue, 31 years of age, of Algonquin Highlands Township who is now charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused party is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 24, 2021.
