Police Investigating Mischief And Arson At Havelock Area Mine

KAWARTHA LAKES-Peterborough County OPP is investigating damage at Unimin Mine in Havelock.

Officers attended and observed that two excavators and a rock drill had been damaged and graffiti had been spray-painted throughout the area. Officers also located a small building that had been set on fire. The mischief and arson occurred on May 29, 2021 at approximately 8:30 pm according to police.

Damage to the property and equipment is estimated at approximately $30,000.

Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to a suspect(s) in this case. Anyone with tips on this case can contact Peterborough County OPP at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
