KAWARTHA LAKES-Some scary moments for a Trent Lakes homeowner.
Members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to a break and enter at approximately 6:30pm yesterday evening.
Police say at approximately 6:15pm the suspect entered the residence and was confronted by the homeowner. The suspect left the residence and fled the scene on a stolen riding lawnmower according to police.
Investigation revealed the suspect had also allegedly damaged the residence and violated their bail conditions. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect at a nearby residence.
The 22 year old suspect of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
• Mischief under $5000
• Theft under $5000
• Break, enter a place-commit indictable offence
• Failure to comply with release order-other than attend court-four counts
The accused party’s identity will be withheld in effort to protect the victim’s identity.
The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later this morning.
