Lindsay Man Charged After Allegedly Stiffing Taxi Driver And Shoplifting

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 21 year old Lindsay man is facing charges after allegedly stiffing a taxi driver and shoplifting.

Police say on March 30, 2021 at 11:00pm a male hired a taxi to transport him from one address in Lindsay to another. While in transit to his destination the male directed the taxi driver to stop at a business on William Street North. The male entered the business, selected merchandise which he concealed in his pocket before exiting the store with no attempt to pay according to police. It’s alleged the male then, fled the area on foot without paying for the taxi service provided.

With the assistance of video surveillance, police have been able to identify and arrest the male. 21-year-old Cameron Buma of Lindsay has been charged with transportation fraud, theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 13, 2021.
