Fenelon Falls Trailer Park Closing To Make Way For Development

KAWARTHA LAKES-Seasonal residents at the Fenelon Falls Trailer Park will be spending their last summer on Cameron Lake.

The park is located on Louisa Street and has been in operation for many years. A notice received by trailer owners on Monday says the park has been sold under contract and the buyers will be taking over in May. The letter goes on to say that the new owners do not intend to continue the operation of the park past this season and therefore they will not be renewing any leases.

“This 2021 season will operate similar to the past 2020 season, however, this will be the last season of operation. The buyers have asked us to notify you that under new ownership; all trailers, sheds, boat slips and belongings must be removed by the end of the lease season and no later than the October 11th closing of the park without exception.” stated the letter.

Councillor Doug Elmslie confirms preliminary discussions with the city have begun on approvals for a condo development.

“I was at Planning on Tuesday and it wasn’t there, it was mentioned after the meeting as a project that would be coming in the near future,” Elmslie told Kawartha 411. “It sounds like a great project for Fenelon, but I would like to see the details.”

Park residents say the surveyors were there this week. There’s no indication as to when the issue will make it to council or what the project will look like.
