Three Vehicle Collision Leads To Impaired Driving Charges For Peterborough Man

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Peterborough man is facing impaired driving charges after a crash on Highway 7.

Police say on March 6, 2021 Kawartha Lakes OPP responded to a three-vehicle collision that resulted in the arrest of one driver for a Criminal Code related offence.

Just before 9:00p.m. officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP arrived at the intersection of Highway 7 and Lily Lake Road and initiated an investigation. Initial information indicated that two of the three vehicles were stopped at the intersection as the traffic control signal was red. A third vehicle approached the intersection and the stopped vehicles, colliding with the closest one, which caused a chain reaction according to police.

Tyler Beyer, 25 years of age, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The vehicle being operated by Beyer was towed from the scene and will be impounded for seven days and the accused’s driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days, as part of the offence.
