Rileys In Bobcaygeon Closing Due To The Uncertainty Of The Pandemic

KAWARTHA LAKES-Rileys Bar and Grill in Bobcaygeon has announced they will be closing due to the uncertainty of the pandemic.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many changes to the restaurant sector, many not at all friendly to the bricks and mortar restaurants we are used to. These factors, combined with the uncertainty of the next 2 or 3 years and what this will mean to the restaurant sector, Rileys Bar + Grill has reluctantly come to the realization that rebuilding at this time is just not feasible and operating out of a mobile kitchen long-term is not feasible either.” said Don and Laurie Riley in a Facebook post today.

The Riley’s took over the restaurant in 2020 and did extensive renovations. Shortly after reopening, the restaurant burned to the ground in June 2020. The Ontario Fire Marshalls Office was called in and police are still investigating the cause of the blaze. A mobile kitchen was set up to keep things going while the restaurant was to be rebuilt. Now both will be closed for good. The mobile kitchen will remain open until March 14th.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Rileys. Thank you to all who supported us this last year, it has been a wild ride. We will miss you.”
