Police Say Driver Clocked Going More Than Double The Speed Limit

KAWARTHA LAKES-A vehicle reportedly observed travelling at more than double the posted speed limit was stopped by Kawartha Lakes OPP and the driver now faces the consequences.

Police say on February 27th an OPP officer was patrolling on Kawartha Lakes Road 48 when a vehicle was observed travelling at 162km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle.

The driver was charged with the Highway Traffic Act infraction of stunt driving and was issued a driver’s licence suspension. The vehicle was also towed from the scene and will be impounded for seven days.

No name was released.
