Thousands Without Power In Parts Of Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-Thousands of residents awoke to a power outage this morning.

Hydro one says more than 4,400 customers are without power. Officials with Hydro One told Kawartha 411 crews are on-site and are “patrolling the lines”, searching for the cause of the outage. No cause has yet been found.

Patrolling the lines is when crews patrol the electrical distribution lines to identify potential problems and determine ways to solve them.

The outage goes from Nogies Creek to Kenrei Park, Cameron and North to Union Creek. 4,436 people are impacted at this time.

Heavy snow is currently falling in the area. Environment Canada says up to 4 cm is possible today.

“We really appreciate everyone’s patience at this time. Our crews are working hard to get the power restored.” Alicia Sayers, Communications Hydro One told Kawartha 411 News.

Some homes have now had power restored. About 1182 remain in the dark with an estimated restoration time of 1:45 pm.

This is a developing story. We will have more information as it becomes available.
