KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reporting three new cases of Coronavirus in the City of Kawartha Lakes today.
It’s unclear where the cases are as the health unit does not release that information.
There is currently 13 active cases of the virus in the City with the health unit tracking 65 high risk contacts. There have been 533 cases of the virus to date locally. 55 people have died.
Two cases of a Coronavirus “variant of concern” have been identified within the city. None of today’s new cases are reported to be the variant.
There is currently one outbreak in the City, at Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road in Lindsay. Over 60 cases of the virus have been linked to the home and 17 residents have died.
As of today, there are 0 active resident cases and 1 active staff case at Caressant Care according to Ross Memorial Hospital. The hospital took over management of the facility officially this week, for a 90 day period.
Testing took place once again today. The outbreak is ongoing at this time, but pending no new cases, it could be declared over as early as March 8. Officials say second doses of Moderna are expected March 2, and first doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be provided to remaining residents, staff and essential caregivers on March 3.
