KAWARTHA LAKE-A two-vehicle collision on Highway 35 led to the arrest of one driver when the assistance of Kawartha Lakes OPP was requested.
Police say on February 15, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m. officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP arrived on scene to assist other emergency services personnel. The ensuing investigation resulted in the officer determining that one of the driver’s had been consuming alcohol, according to police.
As a result of the investigation, Damon Cook, 33 years of age, of Fenelon Falls, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
- Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and the accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on March 4, 2021.
