UPDATE:Home Heavily Damaged In Fire Near Janetville

KAWARTHA LAKES-A home was heavily damaged in a fire near Janetville this morning.

Officials with the fire department told Kawartha 411 News they have no idea of the damage estimate but that the home is “uninhabitable” and the family has been displaced.

A number of crews responded to the call that came in just before 10 am this morning. Hours later firefighters were still at the scene on Janetville Road at Fleetwood Road, black smoke billowing from the broken windows. Water was being brought in from a nearby creek.

Witnesses say no one was home at the time.

There’s no word on the cause, although officials say it is not suspicious.
