Residents At Caressant Care On Mary Street In Lindsay To Receive First Dose of Coronavirus Vaccine on Friday

KAWARTHA LAKES-Residents at two long term care (LTC)facilities in Lindsay hit by Coronavirus outbreaks will receive their first dose of vaccine beginning on Friday.

Officials say all residents in the LTC side of Caressant Care on Mary Street West will be vaccinated (first dose) on Friday. An outbreak was declared at this facility on January 23 with one staff member testing positive on the Long Term Care side.  On the retirement side there are two positive staff cases and they remain at home in isolation.

Residents at Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road will be vaccinated next week according to officials. As Kawartha 411 News first reported on January 9th the health unit declared an outbreak at the McLaughlin Road facility with one positive case. As Of Monday there was 44 cases at the facility with 21 residents and 23 staff infected. On Tuesday the home is reporting a total of 22 positive residents and 19 positive staff. Three residents have died.

Stuart Oakley, Communications with Caressant Care, told Kawartha 411 news that there are no new cases of the virus at either facility today.
