Outbreak Reported At Long Term Care Home In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES – An outbreak has been declared at Caressant Care on Maclaughlin Road in Lindsay.

To date, the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has reported 17 outbreaks in long term care homes.

Since the new-year began numbers have been climbing. On January 8,  Fenelon Court reported an outbreak and on January 9, Caressant Care, Maclaughlin also reported it’s outbreak.

Since the pandemic began, the health unit has declared 30 outbreaks in various settings such as schools, workplaces and congregate settings.

Today, health officials reported two new cases of Coronavirus in Kawartha Lakes.

There is currently 32 active cases of the virus in Kawartha Lakes and the health unit is tracking 53 high risk contacts.

There have been 19 hospitalizations since the pandemic began, Five are currently being treated at Ross Memorial Hospital with Coronavirus and two patients have been put on a ventilator.
