Women’s Resources Awarded $783,500 Grant For Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy

KAWARTHA LAKES-Women’s Resources has been approved for a $783,500 grant from the Ontario Government.

As part of their Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy officials say the grant will be dispersed over a 4 year period. It will be used for a stabilization program for children and youth, including residential services, individualized programming and skills development.

“We are very excited and our Management Team will meet in January to strategize how to deliver this program most effectively.” said the group on Facebook.

Women’s Resources of Kawartha Lakes, is a not-for-profit, charitable organization created and run by local women. For 30 years, Women’s Resources has been providing programs throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes to ensure that abused women and their children can get the help they need to lead lives free of abuse and violence. The services provided by Women’s Resources are free and confidential.

The grant is part of the province’s Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy

Ontario says it is increasing services for child and youth victims and survivors of human trafficking by providing $46 million for 27 new projects across the province through the Community Supports Fund and Indigenous-led Initiatives Fund.
