Two new COVID-19 Cases Reported In Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES – Two new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Kawartha Lakes today. That brings the number of active cases in Kawartha Lakes to three.

According to the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, the Kawartha Lakes has seen a total of 194 confirmed cases to date.

The health department stated that the Kawartha Lakes has seen 172 resolved cases with 3 cases that are currently outstanding. There are also 14 current high risk cases, 11 hospitalizations and a total of 19 deaths among confirmed cases, 13 deaths among probable cases.

The health department has indicated that;

High-risk contacts are defined as asymptomatic individuals who are known to have been in contact with a confirmed or probable case and do not include outbreak-related contacts in long-term care homes.

Probable Cases are individuals who are a symptomatic close contact of a confirmed case and who’s lab results are not available or inconclusive and do not include outbreak-related cases in long-term care homes.

Not Resolved both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals who have had a positive laboratory test result from COVID-19 and are within the initial 14 days of symptom onset or within the 14 days of the reported date of a laboratory test.

Resolved Cases excludes individuals who have died. Resolved includes those who are 14 days past symptom onset or 14 days from their laboratory test reported date. Resolved is not based on two negative tests for clearance, the health department said.

Hospitalizations include confirmed cases that were admitted to a hospital as an inpatient.

Confirmed Deaths are individuals who died and had positive laboratory test results for COVID-19.

Probable Deaths are individuals who died and were symptomatic with no test results available or test results were inconclusive . The health department does not include deaths among probable cases on the confirmed case counts.
