Kawartha Lakes OPP Charge Three People With Impaired Driving Over the Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Three separate vehicle stops conducted by Kawartha Lakes OPP over the weekend resulted in the drivers being arrested and charged with multiple offences.

Police say just before midnight on November 20, 2020 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP were conducting traffic enforcement in the Fenelon Falls area when a driver was observed using a cell phone. The ensuing vehicle stop and investigation led to the arrest of the driver, James Denholm, 41 years of age, of St Charles, for the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Drive – hand held communication device, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Unsafe move – lane or shoulder, contrary to the HTA
  • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Just after midnight on November 21, 2020 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP stopped a vehicle being operated on Emily Park Road and the subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Jenna Butcher, 32 years of age of Curve Lake, for the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

On November 21, 2020 at approximately 8:00p.m. an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP responded to a single vehicle collision that occurred on Rohallion Road. The officer located the vehicle on Beaver’s Lane and the subsequent investigation resulted in the local driver, Wieslaw Adamski, 61 years of age, being arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Fail to remain, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Fail to report accident, contrary to the HTA
