KAWARTHA LAKES-Amanda Clark takes care of seniors every day as a PSW in Long Term Care. She’s been off work with a back injury and was looking for a way to show seniors they are loved even though they may be lonely, and “Stitching for Seniors” was born.
“Stitching for Seniors is a way to get our community to come together to show our seniors they’re not forgotten and they’re loved especially during the pandemic.” Clark told Kawartha 411 News.
She is looking to spread the love to at least 400 local seniors through knitted packs donated to them.
“So each seniors home can select a knitted pack (something made with love) an activity pack to keep them busy hygiene packs for some extra pampering and the sweets just because a huge majority of seniors love mints or sweets.” Clark explains.
People can get involved in many ways. Clark says they are looking for yarn donations, volunteers to knit, items for hygiene care packages  such as soap, body wash, shampoo etc.
“We need some help with our activity packs and are looking for paper, pencils, pens, pencil crayons, colouring books, activity books, puzzles Ect and the for the seniors that still enjoy sweets which many do we will have sweets in a package.”
