KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha 411 News has learned that One Eyed Jacks Pub and Grill is going into the former Grand Restaurant space on Kent Street in Lindsay.
One Eyed Jack has two other locations. One in Oshawa and one in Peterborough. Officials at the restaurant confirmed the news to Kawartha 411. We are waiting for more information on projected dates for construction and opening as well as how many jobs will be created.
The Grand Restaurant closed it’s doors in August after 160 years in business
Owner Charlie McDonald had owned the business for ten years. He told Kawartha 411 news he’s sad to see it go but he had no choice. McDonald said the building was sold and he was given 30 days notice to vacate.
“After 160 years of serving the Downtown Lindsay community, the buildings of 171-185 Kent Street have been sold, and because I have not had a lease since this past March, we have been evicted with 30 days notice.” McDonald said on Facebook. “To say that I am devastated would be an understatement. This restaurant has been a staple of the community and there have been a million memories made under this roof.”
APG Kent Street Properties formerly owned the property and planned to redevelop it but sold the property instead.
One Eyed Jacks offers traditional pub fare along with things such as fish tacos, jalapeño shrimp, Bombay butter chicken and more.
