Firearms charges laid after police called to domestic incident

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 42 year old local resident faces firearms related charges after police officers attended a domestic altercation.

Police say on August 31, 2020 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were called to address on Eldon Road in relation to a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed the presence of a firearm, albeit was not involved in the incident according to police.

One party was arrested on scene and now faces the following Criminal Code related charges:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 3, 2020.

To protect the identity of the victim the accused is not being named.
