Charges laid after off-duty cop observed alleged drug transaction in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 31 year old Lindsay resident has been charged after an off-duty police officer allegedly observed a drug transaction.

Police say on Monday July 27 at 12:20PM an off-duty member of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service observed a drug transaction take place between two people in the area of Kent Street East in Lindsay.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit began an investigation and arrested a man shortly after in connection with the incident according to police.

31-year-old James Nicholas Zarlenga of Lindsay has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on September 17, 2020
