Numerous charges laid after crash on Highway 36

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 36 year old man is facing numerous charges after a two vehicle crash on Kawartha Lakes Road 36 on Sunday.

Police say officers responded to a two vehicle collision on Kawartha Lakes Road 36, North of Four Points Road.  Initial investigation indicated that a vehicle had been passing other vehicles in an aggressive manner prior to the collision according to police.

During the investigation, officers say they located open alcohol in the vehicle and a small quantity of cannabis was located on the driver.

Two people were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Steven Constancia, 36 years of age, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Driving vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

Police say the vehicle was also impounded.
