OPP charge two people with Stunt Driving in one day

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP charged two drivers yesterday, in separate investigations, for operating their vehicles in excess of 50 km/h above the posted limits.

Police say the first driver was operating a motorcycle on Sturgeon Road shortly before 6pm.  Following an investigation, the 36 year old Lindsay area driver is facing a number of charges:

  •  Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Driving While Suspended contrary to the HTA
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to the HTA

The second driver was stopped for excessive speed on Highway 35, just north of Fenelon Falls, shortly after 11:30 pm. Following an investigation, the 33 year old Bowmanville area driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed contrary to the HTA.

The OPP is no longer releasing the names of those charged with traffic offences.
