Motorcyclist charged after allegedly fleeing from police and attempting to break into an apartment in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 33 year old man is facing charges after police received a report about a man performing stunts and driving dangerously on a motorcycle in Lindsay.

Police say the call came in on July 2 at 7:30PM from the area of Lindsay Street North. An officer located the alleged driver a short time later in the area of Kent Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. Police say the driver refused to stop for the officer and fled from the area. The officer knew the identity of the driver and for the safety of the public chose not pursue him according to police.

On July 3 at 2:00AM the Kawartha Lakes Police Service was notified that a man was attempting to force his way into an apartment on William Street North. When officers arrived, they found the man allegedly responsible for the break in hiding under a park bench outside of the building and arrested him. Officers say they later discovered it was the same person who had refused to stop for police earlier in the evening.

Charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, four counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, break and enter, mischief to property under $5000, assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, theft under $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order is 33-year-old Justin Raymond Rentrop of Newmarket.
