Omemee man charged with impaired driving after allegedly being found slumped over behind the wheel

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 23-year-old Omemee man is facing charges including impaired driving after allegedly being found slumped over behind the wheel of his vehicle.

Police say on February 19, 2020 at approximately 6:50 a.m. officers were called to a Brock Street, Peterborough parking lot to check on the wellbeing of a driver.

When officers arrived they located the vehicle that was still running and a male sitting in the driver’s seat slumped over according to police.

Officers were able to rouse the male driver and while speaking with the driver noted a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s mouth.

A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Brandon Thomas Fisher, 23, of Highway 7, Omemee, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 17, 2020.
