Teens charged after alleged erratic driving, one in possession of cannabis and booze

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two teenaged drivers are facing charges after police say they were observed driving erratically and one was found to be in possession of cannabis and booze.

Police say on December 31, 2019 at 3:20am a Kawartha Lakes Police Service officer was monitoring traffic in the area of Kent Street at Angeline Street in Lindsay.  The officer observed two vehicles travelling west on Kent Street at a high rate of speed and followed the two vehicles into a nearby restaurant parking lot.

Through his investigation, the officer learned that the drivers of both vehicles were just sixteen years old.  The officer observed that one of the drivers was allegedly in possession of both alcohol and cannabis.

One of the drivers has been charged with causing unnecessary noise, while the second driver was charged with causing unnecessary noise, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and person under nineteen years of age having liquor.
