Second barn fire in two days destroys barn and driving shed

KAWARTHA LAKES-A barn and driving shed are reduced to rubble today after a fire early this morning.

Fire crews were called to Kenstone Beach Road at around 4am. District Chief Dave Kish told Kawartha 411 there were no animals in the barn but there was hay. No one was injured.

Damage is pegged at approximately $150,000. Kish says the damage is so extensive they could not determine a cause.

Meanwhile crews from five halls battled a fire on Sturgeon Road just before midnight on October 10th. There were no animals in the barn at the time and officals say no one was injured. The cause has not been determined.

Despite this being a second barn fire, not far from each other, in two days, officials say they are not treating them as suspicious.
