Home heavily damaged by fire

KAWARTHA LAKES-A tragedy for a local family tonight as their home has been heavily damaged by fire right before Thanksgiving.

The call came in just before noon today for a garage fire on Laird Drive just off of Snug Harbour Road. Fire officials believe the fire started in the garage and then spread to the home. Crews from at least three halls were called to battle the blaze.

Damaged is extimated to be $250,000-$300,000. District Chief Dave Kish told Kawartha 411 News that two people and their dog have been displaced.  No one was injured.

The Victoria County Disaster Trust Fund is assisting the family.
