Bobcaygeon Habitat for Humanity build delayed until next spring

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Habitat for Humanity build in Bobcaygeon has been delayed until next spring.

Officials cite a number of reasons for the delay including delays in getting a minor variance from the City, more time for fundraising and time to approve a second family.

“The good news: we potentially have a 2nd family who are now in the home visit stage and it is a local Bobcaygeon family.” said Brittany Price, Community Engagement Coordinator with habitat.

The group secured property on East Street North in Bobcaygeon last year and had hoped for the new families to be moving in by this Christmas.

There are some fundraising events coming up if you want to help out.

  • This Saturday the Bobcaygeon Beer Store will be holding a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity where anyone dropping off bottles can donate their bottles to Habitat. We are in need of volunteers for the 10am-1pm & 1pm-4pm shifts to assist with the drive.
  • If you have bottles at home don’t forget to drop them off this Saturday!
  • The Bobcaygeon Raffle will be coming to a close at the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair and we are in need of volunteers on the Friday Sept 27th from 9am- 12pm, 12pm-4pm & 4pm-7pm.
