OPP reminding residents of cannabis related driving laws after recent charge

KAWARTHA LAKES- A recent vehicle stop conducted on Little Britain Road, by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), resulted in the local driver facing a drug related charge.

Police say on August 30, 2019 an OPP officer was on patrol and stopped a vehicle in order to conduct an investigation under the Highway Traffic Act. Police say when the officer approached the vehicle, it was determined that cannabis was present. The investigation resulted in the driver, Giuseppe Galati, 46 years of age, being charged with the offence of drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act.

The OPP would like to remind motorists that, when transporting cannabis, it cannot be within reach of anyone in the vehicle.
