Oshawa man facing slew of charges after vehicle stop on Highway 35

KAWARTHA LAKES-An Oshawa man is facing a number of charges after being stopeed by police on Highway 35.

Police say n August 30, 2019 an OPP officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 35 near Fleetwood Road when a vehicle was observed allegedly speeding and subsequently stopped. The ensuing investigation resulted in the driver, Joel Hindorff, 24 years of age, being arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Driver fail to surrender licence, contrary to the HTA
  • Driver fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary to the HTA
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
  • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
