KAWARTHA LAKES-The municipality of Kawartha Lakes has issued a list of the following changes to hours of operation and service schedules on Monday September 2 due to the Labour Day long weekend:
Waste and Recycling
Please be advised that your normally scheduled day for the collection of waste and recycling will move one day forward:
- September 2 waste collection will be on September 3
- September 3 waste collection will be on September 4
- September 4 waste collection will be on September 5
- September 5 waste collection will be on September 6
Hours of operation on Monday September 2 for Kawartha Lakes landfills are as follows:
- Eldon: 11am to 5pm
- Fenelon: 9am to 5pm
- Laxton Digby Longford: 11am to 5pm
- Lindsay Ops: Closed
- Somerville : 11am to 5pm

Kawartha Lakes Public Library
All Kawartha Lakes Public Library branches will be closed on Monday September 2. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday September 3. For more information about regular branch hours, please visit the Library’s website.
Parks, Recreation and Culture
All Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities will be closed on Monday September 2. This includes the administrative office, all recreation centres, arenas and pools, fitness classes, swimming lessons and aquatic programs. For more information, visit the Community Guide.
Municipal Administration
All Kawartha Lakes administrative offices, including City Hall and all Municipal Service Centres, will be closed on Monday September 2. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday September 3.
Transit
There will be no regular transit service on Monday September 2. Regular service will resume Tuesday September 3 at 7am.

Firework Safety
In order to keep everyone safe and minimize the risk of fire and burn injuries this long weekend, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service is urging residents to leave firework displays to the experts. If you notice someone having an out of control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks and would like to report it right away, please call 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-5731 and follow the prompts.
