Alleged speeder caught without ignition interlock device

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 50 year old man is facing charges after allegedly being caught driving without a required ignition interlock device.

On August 23rd police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Portage Road according to police. Police say the ensuing investigation revealed that the vehicle was not equipped with an approved ignition interlock device, as required for the vehicle driver.

As a result, Harry Terpstra, 50 years of age, of Malahide Township, was charged with speeding and drive motor vehicle not equipped with an approved ignition interlock device.

Interlock ignition devices prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver has been drinking are sometimes court ordered for people charged with impaired driving.
