One dead, another missing in boat collision on Stoney Lake

UPDATE MONDAY AUG 26th- On August 25, 2019 at approximately 6:50pm the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) located the missing male. His name is not being released at this time pending family notifications. The other deceased male has been identified as 31 year old Kristian Brudek of Burlington, Ontario. The cause of this collision remains under investigation.

NORTH KAWARTHA-One man is dead and another missing after two boats collided on Stoney Lake Saturday night.

Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were called to assist in a collision between 2 boats (3 persons were on board each vessel) on Stoney Lake on shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses located and transported 5 of the 6 of the occupants of the vessels to shore.

Investigators were directed to the scene of the crash just off Northey’s Bay Road (Bedwell Drive) in Young’s Bay on Stoney Lake.

Officers utilized marine units and a helicopter from the OPP aviation services however, efforts to locate a 31-year-old man from Mississauga were unsuccessful. Another 31-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
