Car cow collision serves as a reminder of the dangers on country roads

KAWARTHA LAKES-Motorists in rural areas always have to be on the lookout for deer and small animals on the road but one driver got more than he bargained for Saturday night.

A cow was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Thurstonia Road just before 10pm.

Witnesses say a group of cows got loose from a nearby farm and were running on the road when one of them was hit by a vehicle.

A black SUV was heavily damaged in the collision. No one was injured.

Another farmer removed the cow from the road with a tractor.
